Want to become a conscious creator of your life rather than a passive observer? We are creating our lives all the time, however, whether you're doing that consciously or unconsciously tells a different story. With lived experience and training in psychology, this class will help you look at your unconscious and subconscious patterns and beliefs that are usually the blocks that need to be removed in order to envision something different for your life and/or create your life to be more life-giving.

The class will start off with personal design, then move to creating healthy environments tying that to community health, then we will "design your life" with freedom in mind through visioning, then actually building a plan for what that looks like in action - helping you bring your vision to life tangibly, and ultimately this process becoming your new norm as the empowered creator. Utilizing restorative practices, I help you restore your inherent sense of self worth and power through trauma-informed practices that will not only effect your life but will have a ripple effect outward to your community and wider circle as well as your career, relationships, and any other area of your life that you need to most guidance in. This is a person led process where I simply guide you to utilize what you already know (as we all have expertise) while utilizing mine to compliment your own wisdom. I also take the perspective of contextualizing individual issues to the society at large with a social psych lens. As an “Empowered Creator”, you are no longer a passive user or conditioned designer but an active co-creator of our social reality, bringing our visions to life, making the intangible - tangible. Through beginning with personal design and becoming a conscious creator of your life, you become a co-designer with the life itself and make the intangible tangible through creation - what it means to live present, connected and interconnected. We are all creators, but through my framework, I believe we have the capacity to be an empowered one. Living in this way creates an alternative to passive observation or life happening to you, to life happening for you. As your instructor, I am well equipped to teach this topic because not only have I taught modules of it for previous Masterclasses, courses, and webinars, but I have gone through this journey / process myself as that is how my course was built. My teachings come from both formal training and gained wisdom through direct life experience. I currently facilitate virtual webinars, and I have directly worked with incarcerated women as a published researcher. My work with them taught me how to free oneself using the practices described in the student engagement section of this course, so there is also evidence-base to back up the process.

About your instructor, Desiree:

Desiree has a Master's degree in Depth Psychology and is a published researcher having done this type of work with incarcerated women. Her group program was successful in that it was expanded upon and made available to all of the women at the jail that she taught at. That study can be found here: doi.org/10.1080/10852352.2025.2599483 Desiree is currently a Fellow at the Centre for Conscious Design where she facilitates webinars on social equity, participatory/community-based design, and restorative environments. She is also the Founder/CEO of Restorative Design© and the Restorative Design Association (restorativedesign.net) and has taught previous classes on related topics mentioned above. She is also an Adjunct Professor teaching Applied Psychology and environmental design for undergraduate students through distance/online education. What drew me to this topic was my own journey/process/need to become a conscious creator in my own life, and I'm excited to share the wisdom.
