"Beginners Percussion" will not only teach anyone the fundamentals of drumming; but, it will also build confidence in people who never thought they could do something like this. Music is a gateway that connects so many people and transcends whatever vibes making it better. It connects diverse groups of people. It makes people feel things. This class will grow new musicians, as well as grow the love that people have for music.
Students will learn drum rudiments, patterns, and many other interesting techniques and secrets within the drumming world. I will also teach beginning drum set techniques. There will be videos that students can access to learn the techniques and stay up to date. I will also be available for questions and comments. The class is also open to whoever wants to join.
I have experience, both in the marching band world, as well as the gigging world. I have been a self taught drummer since the age of 12. I learned how to read music, both treble and bass clefs at 14, in my freshman year of high school. Ive been gigging for about 6 years. I plan to share this experience with the students in the class as well. I have many musicians that I could bring as guests to talk to the students and give them advice and insight into the "musician life."
All in all, my aim is to help the next group of musicians get started. I had many people who assisted me and helped me to get to where I am and I just want to continue that on. Paying it forward goes a long way. Networking and practice does part of the work, and talent does the rest.
