The course is designed for students who are in their first year of college/university and have just graduated high school. As a former writing tutor, I understand the struggles that many students have when it comes to writing. I myself have struggled many times with the writing process and have frequently hit writer's block. It is my intent to teach students how to avoid falling into this trap and how to bounce back from it if they do.

About this course:
This course will be about the fundamentals of writing an academic research paper. It is meant for those who have just graduated from high school or are in their first year of college. If you have ever struggled with writing in the past or are currently struggling, this is the course for you.
About our Instructor:
As a former writing tutor (at CSULA and Mt. San Antonio College), I have tutored many students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles in the fundamentals of the college writing process. Academic writing can be difficult at first because it is very different from the usual research paper that you would write in middle or high school. From personal experience, it can be daunting to write a university-level research paper. This course will aim to ease this discomfort by incorporating lessons learned from past tutoring sessions as well as spending time going over the different facets of the research process.
Overall, this course will break down some myths about writing being impossible to do. It will help you with structuring your academic writing so you don't feel daunted by your term papers.
