We will start with a short history lesson of the way the hand is drawn in art periods over time. Students will learn through experienced techniques how to draw all parts of the hand (fingers, knuckles, palms, etc.) by memory. This class will teach students how to utilize shapes, curves, and learn a bit of anatomy.
I have been drawing hands as an illustrator for over 25 years. It is one of the subjects I have learned to draw by memory through practice and experience.
We will conduct each class with a video tutorial, during which we will practice drawing in class. Afterwards, we will upload (if possible) photos or scans of the drawings to be critiqued in class. Homework will then be assigned for the next session, which will begin with a critique of the homework.
Hello! I have 26 years as an illustrator and want to pass my knowledge of drawing along to students who are interested in improving their skill at drawing hands. This is a subject that is challenging to most artists. I looking forward to teaching my students to draw hands by memory, so that when they don't have reference, they will have a basic idea. This is a great class for illustrators, fine artists, comic book artists, and beginners!
