Between the Protestant Reformation and the End of Napoleon in 1815, a new world took shape in Europe, a world that still moulds our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This world was forged in fire and the course will look at the dark sides of this new age, the suffering at the receiving end of power struggles like the Seven Years War as well as at the splendor and centuries-bridging music, which we still enjoy today. Did you know, that Prussian soldiers tried to avoid killing enemy soldiers? We will have a glimpse at the different forms of the Reformation and Catholic Counter-Reformation, the Thirty Years War, as well as Europe's three great Revolutions, the Revolt of the Netherlands, the English Civil Wars and the French Revolution.
