Hello! My name is Alex Stinnette and my goal is to help you understand how music works from a theoretical point of view so that you can apply it to your current or future instrument. We will be covering the building blocks of music which includes: the chromatic and other scales, how to build chords, read chord symbols, and modality.
Class Time:
4 hours of learning!
Teaching should allow time for both teacher and student-led discussions that lead to greater creativity and curiosity. With that said, my goal is to guide you with open ended questions, encouragement and a genuine care for not just your success as a musician, but as an individual.
When it comes to how the class is conducted, I plan to present key ideas and ask you to apply them to different musical concepts during class. After class, I will give personalized assignments only if you so wish and if you already play an instrument, can also guide you into what to practice based on what was discussed in that class.
Hi, my name is Alex Stinnette and I've been teaching privately for two years now and am currently studying music education. I love helping people discover their full potential and love to be your biggest advocate. I've found that understanding how music works at a theoretical level helps create more independent learning which is my goal for you! It's a joy to see people thinking for themselves and create music that's meaningful to them.
I am also available on Saturdays between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM CDT. If this schedule doesn’t work for you, please use the “Suggest Your Own Meeting Times” feature to let us know your preferred time, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
