I didn't get into genetics because it was trendy. I got into it because I got tired of watching people fight their own bodies instead of understanding them. For years, I watched clients — and lived it myself — chase programs that worked great for someone else's body and wonder why the results never matched the effort they were pouring in. I've been on both sides of that frustration.
Class Time:
6 hours of learning!
Before I ever became a trainer, I was fighting fires and fighting my own health, and I know what it feels like to push hard and still feel like your body isn't cooperating with you. That struggle is part of why I do what I do now. It gave me a different kind of empathy — not the kind you get from a certification, but the kind you get from actually living in a body that felt like it was working against you.
Then I started digging into genetic testing, and it changed how I saw everything. Your ACTN3 isn't a coincidence. Your COMT isn't bad luck. Your COL5A1 isn't a flaw. These are pieces of a design — and Psalm 139:14 isn't just a verse I like to quote, it's the lens I train through every single day. "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" isn't poetry to me. It's a training principle. It means your body was built with intention, down to the molecular level, and when you finally understand how you were made, you stop working against your design and start working with it.
That shift is powerful. I've watched clients go from years of frustration — programs that never quite clicked, diets that never quite fit, recovery that never quite happened — to finally understanding why their body responds the way it does. And once they know why, everything downstream gets easier. Training gets smarter. Nutrition gets simpler. Recovery gets more targeted. Confidence replaces guesswork.
This class exists because I believe every person who walks through my door — or watches from a screen — deserves to train, eat, and recover according to the blueprint they were actually given, not a generic template pulled off the internet. That's not just science to me. It's not just a service pillar. It's purpose. It's the conviction that understanding your design is one of the most practical ways to honor the One who designed you.
If you've ever felt like your body was working against you, this class is my invitation to see it differently — and to finally train from the inside out.
I'm Howard Votruba, founder of Redeemed Fitness. Before this, I was a firefighter — watching bodies under real stress taught me early that no two respond the same way. My own health journey, where generic advice kept failing me, is what pushed me into fitness and eventually genetics. I needed to know why, not just what.I hold ISSA certifications as a CPT, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Senior Fitness Specialist, Online Coaching Specialist, and Holistic Nutritionist, plus certification as a NerveOTX provider.
That mix of movement, nutrition, and nervous system work is why genetics fits how I coach — DNA shows up in how you move, recover, and handle stress, not in isolation.I've applied the 3X4 Genetics platform with real clients across Kansas, Colorado, and Denver, using markers like ACTN3, COL5A1, COMT, and TNF-α to build individualized plans. Underneath it all is Psalm 139:14 — I don't separate the science from the faith. You were made with intention, down to the molecule.
